Give these classic corn dogs a try this weekend. They are delicious with your favorite dipping sauce and taste just like carnival corn dogs! Great for kids of all ages. Also great to make for your lady on a lazy night as home watching Netflix and chilling. Recipe below.
Breakdown:
Difficulty: Medium
Feeds: 4 people
Time: Lunch/Dinner
Ingredients:
- 4 hot dogs, your favorite kind work
- 2 tablespoon cornmeal
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 cup pancake mix
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 cup(ish) your favorite oil, bacon fat recommended
Instructions:
In a medium bowl, mix together your cornmeal, sugar, pancake mix and water. From here, take all each of your hot dogs and one by one dip then into that nice batter you just whipped up in the medium bowl. Fire up your stove with your favorite cast iron and a good coating of oil on the bottom. Fry the batter covered hot dogs for 2 to 3 minutes, or until golden brown on both sides. When golden brown, pull them out and let them rest on a paper towel or wire rack for a few minutes.
Be careful to let these sit on the paper towel for a few minutes after cooking to ensure you don’t burn your mouth. They will be HOT! We love to dip these corndogs in ketchup and ranch dressing. Hope you enjoy these traditional homemade corndogs!
